Go Pie Crazy at the Wimberley Pie Social – April 8

The Wimberley Pie Social!

PIE…. who doesn’t love pie?

One of my favorite local events and one of the top “off the beaten path” things to do in Wimberley  in my opinion is the Wimberley Pie Social.  Put on as a fundraiser for the Wimberley Institute of Cultures the Pie Social is like taking a trip back in time to an old fashioned church social’s dessert table – complete with ladies in their pioneer and old west style aprons serving it up.

Last year between my daughter and myself we ate 7 pieces of pie. SEVEN. Creamy perfect Coconut Cream Pie. Fudgy Chocolate Pie. Peanut Butter Pie. Peach Pie, Cherry Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie …. and my favorite, Buttermilk Pie!

I know this because we took selfies with each piece. #PiePorn

The Wimberley Pie Social is not only a pie-eating smorgasbord, but also a contest – there are categories for best fruit pie, best chocolate pie, best cream pie, best apple pie and more, plus a division for children.

A $5 contribution to WIC gets you five pieces of pie. Or four pieces of pie and a drink. Or, for those who think lunch before pie is important, you can get a pretty awesome hot dog!

While commencing in the pie consumption, we just hang out on the beautiful grounds in the center of town listening to music, viewing art and jewelry from local artists, and talking to some of the people who make our town so great.

The Wimberley Pie Social is held on the grounds of the Winter’s Wimberley House which is the original home of the family who first settled Wimberley and built the old mill on Cyprus Creek. While you are visiting the pie social be sure and check out the History of Wimberley inside the house.

About The Author

Jodi Bourne

Sixteen years ago I drove south from my home in East Texas to find Wimberley - one of the most beautiful towns in Texas. And in those 16 years my kids, husband and I have made a point to experience most of what Wimberley and Central Texas has to offer. Nothing makes me happier than being asked why they should visit the area, where they should stay and what they should do while they are here. Now, I want to share Wimberley with the world - the thriving shops and restaurants; the renowned art and theater; the beauty of our hills, river, creeks and wildlife; and the small town fun that those of us in Wimberley get to experience daily. I hope you will let me be your tour guide.
